Xiaomi is rolling out a compact addition to its tablet lineup with the Redmi Pad 2 9.7, a 24.6 cm (9.7-inch) slate running HyperOS 3 that ships in both Wi-Fi and 4G variants. The tablet has already launched in Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore, with Australia availability set for 2026-05-01 and broader global markets expected to follow. It comes in Silver and Graphite Gray, and the inclusion of a 4G option makes it one of the more connectivity-flexible budget tablets on the market right now.
At the core sits Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2, paired with 4 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and either 64 GB or 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage, expandable via microSD up to 2 TB. The display delivers a 2,048 x 1,280 resolution at 120 Hz with a 240 Hz touch sampling rate and up to 600 nits of peak brightness in outdoor mode. An 8 MP rear camera and 5 MP front-facing shooter handle the imaging duties. Powering the whole package is a 7,600 mAh battery with 18W charging support, packed into a frame measuring 226.5 x 147.9 x 7.4 mm (8.9 x 5.8 x 0.3 inches) at 406 g (0.9 lbs).
The Wi-Fi model with 4 GB and 64 GB of storage starts at $125 (€115), while the 128 GB configuration comes in at around $165 (€150). The 4G variants carry a modest premium. For anyone looking at a budget Android tablet for media consumption, light emulation, or a portable streaming display, the Redmi Pad 2 9.7 hits a competitive price point with a screen and battery combination that punches above its tier.
