RedMagic is preparing to launch a successor to its Astra gaming tablet, with the company teasing that the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 device will feature "10 cutting-edge technologies" and an "ultra high refresh rate" display. According to leaks from Digital Chat Station, the upcoming tablet will sport a 200 Hz OLED display, a significant upgrade from the Astra's 165 Hz panel and faster than the 165 Hz IPS screen on the recently launched Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5.

The teaser highlights several key features beyond the display, including a "new luminescent material" for improved viewing quality and a "PC-grade" cooling setup. RedMagic also points to its Cube PowerGame Engine, which aims to enhance gaming performance with better image quality and reduced power consumption. The tablet will reportedly feature a transparent flat design, a "top-end touch chipset" for responsive input, and what could be the largest battery in its class. The current RedMagic Astra packs an 8,200 mAh battery in a 23 cm (9.06 inch) compact form factor.

The new gaming tablet is expected to launch in China sometime in March 2026, with a global release likely to follow. While RedMagic has not confirmed pricing or final specifications, the move to a 200 Hz OLED display positions the upcoming device as a direct competitor to Lenovo's compact gaming tablet in the premium Android gaming segment.
