Qualcomm used Computex 2026 to introduce the Snapdragon C, a new Compute-branded Arm SoC aimed squarely at the bottom of the Windows laptop market. Devices built around the chip are expected to start at $300 (€280), positioning Snapdragon C against Intel's Alder Lake-N and Twin Lake parts that currently dominate budget x86 notebooks.
The technical disclosures are unusually thin for a Qualcomm launch. The company confirmed an integrated Adreno GPU and a built-in NPU for on-device AI, but it has not published core counts, clock speeds, or NPU TOPS figures. More notably, Qualcomm told reporters that Snapdragon C is built on the older Kryo mobile cores rather than the Oryon architecture used in the Snapdragon X family, a choice that will keep costs down but limits how the chip stacks up against current premium Arm silicon.
Acer, HP, and Lenovo are all signed up as launch partners. The first concrete example is the Acer Aspire Go 15 (AG15-Q31P), which pairs the Snapdragon C with up to 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, and a 39.6 cm (15.6 inches) 1920x1080 display. Connectivity covers Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, two full-function USB Type-C ports, a USB Type-A port, HDMI 1.4, and a 3.5mm jack, alongside a 1080p webcam and a 53 Wh battery. The keyboard includes a dedicated Copilot key, reflecting the system's positioning as an entry-level Windows 11 Home machine for browsing, streaming, and office work.
For anyone watching the Arm-on-laptop story from the Linux side, Snapdragon C is another data point in the steady expansion of Arm SoCs into mainstream PC form factors, though the chip's Kryo mobile core architecture puts it on a different path from the Snapdragon X family that Linaro and the broader kernel community have been actively working to bring into mainline Linux. That existing Snapdragon X porting effort does not carry over to this different platform, and with hardware still months from retail, no community work on Snapdragon C has had a chance to begin. Qualcomm and its partners say Snapdragon C devices will reach retail later in 2026, with full specifications and pricing for individual models still to come.
