Motorola has officially launched the Razr Fold, its first book-style foldable smartphone after years of focusing exclusively on clamshell designs. Unveiled at MWC 2026, the device positions itself as a competitor to established players like the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Oppo Find N5.

The Razr Fold features an 8.1-inch foldable display with a 2,484 x 2,232 resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate, paired with a 6.6-inch cover display that boasts a 165 Hz refresh rate and 6,000 nits peak brightness. Motorola claims this is the first smartphone to use Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the cover screen. The device measures 4.6 mm (0.18 inches) when unfolded and 9.9 mm (0.39 inches) when folded, making it slightly thicker than some competitors, but it compensates with a substantial 6,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery that outpaces the 4,400 mAh and 5,600 mAh batteries in the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Oppo Find N5 respectively. It weighs 244 g (0.54 lbs).

The camera system includes three 50 MP shooters: a 1/1.28-inch Sony LYTIA 828 main sensor with OIS, a 3x periscope telephoto with OIS, and an ultra-wide camera with macro capabilities. There's also a 32 MP selfie camera on the cover display and a 20 MP camera on the internal screen. The setup earned a DXOMARK score of 164 with Gold Label recognition. Under the hood, the Razr Fold runs Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, a chipset positioned as a premium mid-range alternative to the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 found in most 2026 flagships. Performance-wise, it matches last year's Snapdragon 8 Elite.

The device comes with 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM, up to 1 TB storage, 80 W wired charging, 50 W wireless charging, and support for the included Moto Pen Ultra stylus. Motorola promises seven years of Android updates and security patches. The Razr Fold launches at $2,100 (€1,999) in three colors: Pantone Blackened Blue, Pantone Lily White, and a FIFA World Cup 26 Collection variant. Pre-orders are open now, with availability starting in Europe and expanding to North America in the coming months.
