Lenovo is bringing cross-ecosystem connectivity to its upcoming Legion Y700 Gen 5 gaming tablet with a feature called Super Interconnect 3.0. The technology enables direct connection with iOS devices, allowing iPhone users to sync notifications, transfer files via drag-and-drop, and use the tablet as a secondary display for gaming PCs. This marks a notable expansion of cross-platform features that Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi and Honor have been developing, though implementation with iOS typically faces restrictions.

The 8.8-inch tablet is expected to launch in China sometime in March 2026 with a 165 Hz display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, up to 24 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of storage. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 represents a significant milestone for open-source compatibility, as Qualcomm posted upstream Linux kernel patches on the same day as the chip's launch, a first for mobile platforms. While previous Legion Y700 models have LineageOS and postmarketOS community ports available, device-specific support for the Gen 5 will depend on bootloader unlocking and community development once units reach developers. Previous leaks suggest a 9,000 mAh battery with 68 W fast charging support. Lenovo is also implementing the same Super Interconnect 3.0 technology in its upcoming Xiaoxin Tablet Pro GT13, suggesting the company is positioning cross-device connectivity as a key differentiator across its tablet lineup.

The secondary display feature could appeal to users with portable gaming setups, though the compact screen size may limit productivity applications. Lenovo has been gradually revealing the Y700 Gen 5's specifications through a series of teasers, with additional details expected before the official launch.
