The Xiaomi Self-Install Smart Lock has quietly started appearing at European retailers, bringing fingerprint and app-controlled entry to existing door locks without requiring any drilling or professional installation. The device, model BHR07XDGL, attaches to standard key or knob locks and automatically turns them when unlocked via fingerprint, passwords, Bluetooth, or voice commands.
What makes this smart lock particularly appealing for renters and those wary of permanent modifications is its retrofit design. The unit houses your existing physical key or knob mechanism, adding smart functionality on top rather than replacing the entire lock assembly. Users can manage the device remotely through the Xiaomi Home app, checking lock status and receiving anti-tamper alerts. The inclusion of Matter protocol support means it should play nicely with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and other major smart home ecosystems.
Pricing in Europe currently sits around $130 to $165 (€121 to €153) for the base unit, with a keypad accessory bundle running $195 to $205 (€179 to €189). Deliveries are estimated for mid to late February 2026, though Xiaomi has not announced an official European launch date.
