Xiaomi is preparing to launch the Redmi K Pad 2, a compact flagship tablet that will succeed last year's Redmi K Pad. The device has now been certified in China under model number 26048RP6AC, signaling an imminent release that could happen as soon as April alongside the Redmi K90 Ultra smartphone.
The certification confirms the tablet will retain 67 W wired charging from its predecessor, but the Redmi K Pad 2 is expected to bring notable upgrades under the hood. The most significant change appears to be the switch from the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ to the newer Dimensity 9500, which delivers 32% better single-core CPU performance and 33% improved GPU performance while consuming around 40% less power. The tablet is also rumored to pack a larger battery than the 7,500 mAh unit found in the original Redmi K Pad, with reports suggesting a capacity around 9,000 mAh.
The Redmi K Pad 2 will compete directly with recently announced compact gaming tablets like the Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5 and the RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro. While Xiaomi hasn't confirmed global availability, the company could eventually release the device internationally as the second-generation Xiaomi Pad Mini, following the pattern established when the original Redmi K Pad launched globally under that name.
