Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Z TriFold, its first tri-folding smartphone, quietly announcing it via press release rather than a dedicated event. The device unfolds into a 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED tablet with a 2160 x 1584 resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, and 1,600 nits peak brightness. When folded, it becomes a 6.5-inch smartphone measuring 15.9 x 7.5 x 1.29 cm (6.3 x 3.0 x 0.51 inches), with the unfolded thickness dropping to just 3.9 mm (0.15 inches), making it one of the thinnest foldables ever released.

The Z TriFold runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset paired with 16 GB of RAM and either 256 GB or 512 GB of storage. Its 5,600 mAh battery, split across three cells for balanced power delivery, supports 45W fast charging. The camera array includes a 200 MP main sensor, 12 MP ultra-wide, and 10 MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, while dual 10 MP front cameras handle selfies on both displays. Samsung claims the dual-rail hinge system is its most advanced yet, though the company has not disclosed fold durability ratings. The device carries an IP48 water and dust resistance rating and runs Android 16 out of the box.

A standout feature is standalone Samsung DeX support, letting users transform the tri-fold into a desktop workstation with up to four workspaces and five simultaneous apps, no external monitor required. South Korean sales begin 2025-12-12 at KRW 3,594,000, roughly $2,450 (€2,254), with China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE, and the US to follow. American buyers can expect availability in Q1 2026, with pricing potentially reaching $3,000 (€2,760) in some markets. Purchasers also receive a six-month Google AI Pro trial and a one-time 50% discount on display repairs.
