RedMagic has confirmed its next flagship gaming tablet will launch sometime in April 2026. The RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro arrives as the successor to last year's RedMagic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro, which was later released globally as the RedMagic Astra.

Jiang Chao, General Manager of RedMagic, posted on Weibo that the specific launch date cannot be revealed yet but promised fans will not be disappointed. The company has also confirmed a global release will follow the China launch, likely two to three months later based on last year's timeline. The previous generation launched in China in June 2025 and reached global markets in August 2025.

The new tablet will pack Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which delivers over 20% better CPU performance and up to 30% improved GPU performance compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Qualcomm announced same-day upstream Linux kernel support for this SoC, with device tree patches covering CPU, USB, and other subsystems now under review for mainline inclusion. However, device-level Linux support for tablets using this chipset depends on additional factors like bootloader policy and vendor kernel source releases, neither of which RedMagic has announced. The previous generation Astra had its bootloader locked, preventing custom ROM installation, though some older RedMagic phone models have Linux-based bootloader unlock guides.

RedMagic is keeping the compact 9-inch (22.9 cm) form factor but upgrading to a 200Hz OLED display and equipping a new Magic Cooling system with composite liquid metal heat dissipation, a vapor chamber structure, and an active turbo cooling fan. The tablet will also include a 9,000 mAh battery.

Pricing has not been announced, though component cost increases could push the price above the RedMagic Astra's starting price of $549 (€505). The Astra launched with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage at that base price, with higher configurations reaching $899 (€827) for 24GB RAM and 1TB storage.
