Lenovo is expanding its Legion gaming brand beyond laptops and handhelds with the Legion Y960, a gaming headset packing a multi-driver setup that promises physical 7.1-channel surround sound. The headset is set to debut at a China launch event on 2026-05-19 alongside two Legion Y900 gaming tablets and a refreshed Legion gaming phone, the first since the Y70 launched back in 2022.
The Y960's most notable spec is its driver configuration, with each earcup housing one 40mm driver and two 20mm drivers. That three-driver-per-ear arrangement is what Lenovo is calling "physical 7.1-channel" audio, a step beyond the virtual surround processing most gaming headsets rely on. The company also references a "patented six-unit voiceprint perspective" system, which appears to be aimed at improving vocal clarity and spatial positioning of dialogue in games and media.
Teaser images show a wireless design with plush earcup padding, an adjustable headband, and the familiar Legion logo on the outer housing. Lenovo has not yet confirmed pricing, wireless protocol details, or whether the Y960 will see availability outside China, but more information is expected ahead of the May launch.
