Lenovo is reviving its Legion gaming phone line with a refreshed Legion Y70 set to launch in China on 2026-05-19. The headline spec so far is an 8,000mAh battery that Lenovo says can deliver two days of use on a single charge, though the company has not clarified whether that estimate applies to heavy gaming sessions or lighter everyday usage. The battery is also rated to retain at least 80% of its original capacity after seven years.
The new Legion Y70 slots into an increasingly competitive gaming phone segment. Its 8,000mAh cell outpaces the iQOO 15 Ultra's 7,400mAh battery, though the Redmi K90 Max edges ahead with 8,550mAh. Lenovo has not yet revealed the phone's chipset or charging speeds, leaving some of the most important performance details for a later date. The original Legion Y70 launched back in 2022 with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, and expectations are high for a flagship-tier successor. That 2022 model also built a following among open-source enthusiasts: it shipped with an unlockable bootloader and attracted community porting work including an unofficial LineageOS 22.2 build on XDA Forums alongside a range of tested working GSI ROMs. Whether Lenovo carries that same openness forward into the 2026 model is one of the more interesting questions remaining ahead of the May 19 launch.
Beyond raw endurance, Lenovo is highlighting what it calls an "exclusive gaming antenna" that reportedly boosts WiFi performance by 26.2% compared to a standard antenna, promising lower latency during online play. With the Chinese launch date less than three weeks away, Lenovo has been teasing the phone on Weibo with additional details likely to follow in the coming days.
