Instead of choosing between a paper-like E Ink screen and a conventional LCD, the Bigme HiBreak Dual 2 ships both: a 15.6 cm (6.1-inch) E Ink panel on one side and a 12.7 cm (5-inch) LCD on the other. It is a significant step up from the original HiBreak Dual released earlier this year, replacing the Dimensity 1080 with a MediaTek Dimensity 8300, a 4nm Armv9 chip that Bigme says scores above 1.6 million on AnTuTu. The phone comes in 12GB/256GB or 16GB/512GB configurations and supports dual-SIM 5G, NFC, 30W fast charging on a 4,450 mAh battery, and an optional C8 stylus. A 50MP rear camera, stereo speakers, USB-C, and a fingerprint sensor round out the spec sheet.
The E Ink display comes in two variants: a greyscale panel at 824 x 1,648 pixels or a color version rendering up to 4,096 colors at a halved 412 x 824 resolution. Bigme claims the E Ink side can hit refresh rates up to 80 fps, up from the original model's 53 fps, though high refresh rates on E Ink panels typically introduce visible ghosting. A front light offers 36 levels of brightness and color temperature adjustment for low-light reading. The LCD side runs at 1,280 x 720 pixels (294 PPI at its size), handling video playback, gaming, and camera viewfinder duties where E Ink falls short.
The HiBreak Dual 2 is available through Kickstarter starting at $600 (€550) for the 12GB greyscale model at the super early bird tier, with the 16GB color version at $730 (€670). Retail pricing is expected between $1,000 and $1,230 (€920 and €1,130). The phone ships with Android 16, though Android 17 has already landed and Bigme has not announced plans for OS updates. Bigme, an established eReader and E Ink tablet manufacturer, plans to deliver units to backers by October or November 2026.
