ACEMAGIC is taking pre-orders for its Retro X5, a mini PC that packs AMD's Ryzen AI HX 370 Strix Point processor into a chassis styled after the original Nintendo Entertainment System. The little computer features a 12-core, 24-thread processor with integrated Radeon 890M graphics, support for DDR5-5600 memory, PCIe 4.0 storage, WiFi 7, and dual 2.5 GbE LAN ports. Despite resembling the classic NES, the ACEMAGIC Retro X5 is considerably smaller at 13.9 x 12.8 x 4.5 cm (5.5 x 5.0 x 1.8 inches) compared to the original console's 25.5 x 20.2 x 8.5 cm (10.0 x 7.9 x 3.3 inches) dimensions.
The computer comes with two SODIMM slots for RAM and dual M.2 2280 slots for storage, making it straightforward to upgrade or replace components. Pre-order pricing with the coupon code X5PRE40 brings a 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD configuration down to $920 (€846), with shipments expected to begin on 2026-03-18. ACEMAGIC has hinted at a barebones version without memory or storage, though no ordering option currently exists.
Port selection includes USB4 Type-C with 40 Gbps throughput and DisplayPort 1.4 Alt Mode, an additional USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port with 10 Gbps and DisplayPort support, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.0, dual 2.5 GbE LAN, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The system supports up to four 4K displays and includes Bluetooth 5.2. ACEMAGIC employs a cooling solution with copper heat pipes and three fans to manage the thermal output of the Strix Point processor.
