Intel's Panther Lake mobile processors are starting to show up in shipping hardware, and Xiaomi is among the first out the gate with its Redmi Book Pro 2026 series. Launched in China, the two laptops, a 14-inch and a 16-inch model, pack up to the Core Ultra X7 358H with Intel's Arc B390 integrated GPU, making them potentially interesting machines for Linux users eyeing better driver support from Intel's open source graphics stack. Early testing of the Panther Lake platform on other hardware offers some encouragement on that front: Phoronix benchmarks running Ubuntu 26.04 with Linux 6.19 and Mesa 26.0.0 showed the Arc B390 Xe3 iGPU outperforming AMD's Radeon 890M in most Linux gaming workloads, Intel has upstreamed NPU 5 firmware for Panther Lake to the linux-firmware repository, and Omarchy 3.5, the Arch-based distribution from Basecamp, has added full Panther Lake support using a patched 6.19 kernel with IPU7 webcam drivers and thermal management tooling, though no Redmi-specific Linux testing has surfaced yet.

Both models share a 15.9 mm (0.63 inch) thin chassis and a solid port selection that includes Thunderbolt 4, a full-function USB-C, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Three processor configurations are available across the lineup: the base Core Ultra 5 325 paired with 24 GB of RAM, a mid-tier Core Ultra 5 338H with the Arc B370 iGPU and 32 GB of RAM, and the top-end Core Ultra X7 358H featuring the Arc B390 iGPU alongside 32 GB of RAM. All configurations ship with 1 TB of storage.

The 14-inch model features a 2880x1800 IPS panel running at 120 Hz with 100% sRGB coverage and 500 nits of brightness, backed by a 92 Wh battery. It weighs in at 1.5 kg (3.29 lbs). The 16-inch variant steps up to a 3200x2000 resolution at 165 Hz, carries a larger 99 Wh battery that Xiaomi claims can deliver up to 30.4 hours of local video playback, and weighs 1.9 kg (4.15 lbs).

Pricing for the 14-inch Redmi Book Pro 2026 starts at $1,099 (€1,010) and tops out at $1,390 (€1,280) for the X7 358H configuration. The 16-inch model ranges from $1,130 (€1,040) to $1,420 (€1,310). Both are currently only available in China, and Xiaomi has not confirmed global availability, though the company has previously brought Redmi-branded laptops to international markets.
