The Wine project has released version 10.20, the latest bi-weekly development snapshot of the open-source compatibility layer that lets Windows applications and games run on Linux. This release arrives just days before a significant milestone: the code freeze for Wine 11.0 begins on 2025-12-05 with the first release candidate.

Wine 10.20 bundles the recently released VKD3D 1.18, which handles Direct3D 12 to Vulkan translation. The update also brings expanded support for reparse points, continued refactoring of Common Controls following the v5/v6 split, and a new progress dialog for document scanning. The release addresses 31 known bugs, with fixes spanning from StarCraft assertion errors to issues in Civilization and various other applications.

Wine 11.0 is shaping up to be a major release when it arrives in January 2026, featuring upstream NTSYNC support in the Linux kernel and continued WoW64 improvements. Downloads and full release notes are available at WineHQ.org.
