SunFounder has launched the Pironman 5 Pro Max, an upgraded version of its tower-style Raspberry Pi 5 enclosure that adds a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen (800×480 resolution), a 5MP camera module with dedicated mount, stereo 3W speakers, a USB microphone, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The case builds on the design of the Pironman 5 Max, retaining its black aluminum and semi-transparent acrylic construction, dual M.2 2280 NVMe slots with RAID 0/1 support, IR receiver, metal power button, and tap-to-wake 0.96-inch OLED display for system stats.
The new multimedia hardware makes the case particularly suited for computer vision projects, voice-enabled AI assistants, and video conferencing. It ships with three programmable PWM RGB LED fans, a tower cooler, six WS2812 addressable RGB LEDs, and an external 40-pin GPIO extender. The dual M.2 PCIe 2.0 x1 slots support SSDs or AI accelerators like the Hailo-8L, though speeds are limited by the PCIe switch. Software support includes Raspberry Pi OS Trixie, Ubuntu 25.04/25.10, Kali Linux, Home Assistant OS 16.3, and other distributions, with configuration handled through the pironman5 module script.
The case integrates with the open-source ecosystem through SunFounder's GPL-licensed Python control software, which manages the OLED display, RGB lighting, and thermal management across supported distributions. Home Assistant users can install an official add-on to display system stats on the OLED screen and automate RGB lighting through the smart home platform, while Batocera Linux has native support for retro gaming builds with active cooling control.
The Pironman 5 Pro Max starts at $146 (€134) and includes all listed accessories. Optional add-ons include upgraded camera modules, RTL-SDR dongles, and Hailo-8L AI accelerators. The case requires a 5V/5A USB-C power supply, with the official Raspberry Pi 27W adapter recommended.
