Seeed Studio has rolled out two new members of its reComputer line, a pair of Rockchip-powered edge AI machines aimed at robotics, computer vision, and on-device LLM workloads. The reComputer RK3576 and RK3588 ship preloaded with Armbian Linux and plug into the company's reComputer AI Lab platform, giving developers a one-click path to deploying vision, speech, and language model demos on local hardware.

Both boxes share a chassis measuring 123 x 93 x 51 mm (4.8 x 3.7 x 2.0 inches) and a 9V to 19V barrel jack, but the silicon differs significantly. The Rockchip RK3576 variant pairs four Cortex-A72 cores at 2.2 GHz with four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.8 GHz, a Mali-G52 MC3 GPU, and up to 16GB of LPDDR5. The RK3588 model steps up to four Cortex-A76 cores at 2.4 GHz, four Cortex-A55 cores, a Mali-G610 MP4 GPU, and as much as 32GB of LPDDR5. Both chips include a 6 TOPS NPU with INT4, INT8, INT16, BF16, and TF32 mixed-precision support, and both can decode 8K video.

I/O is generous on either configuration. The RK3576 board offers dual Gigabit Ethernet (one PoE-capable with an add-on module), one USB 3.0 Type-A port, three USB 2.0 ports, and a single HDMI 2.1 output. The RK3588 upgrades the networking to dual 2.5GbE, ships four USB 3.0 Type-A ports, and exposes two HDMI 2.1 outputs plus an HDMI 2.0 capture input. Both include a USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt mode, MIPI DSI and dual MIPI CSI connectors, a 40-pin GPIO header, onboard WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4, a mini PCIe slot with a SIM tray for optional 4G LTE, LoRaWAN, or WiFi HaLow, and M.2 Key-M sockets for NVMe storage or AI accelerators (the RK3588 gets a second PCIe 3.0 x4 slot).

The software story is what separates these boxes from the dozens of other RK3576 and RK3588 boards on the market. Armbian provides long-term maintained images, security updates, encrypted OS options, and OTA upgrades, while the reComputer AI Lab bundles containerized demos for YOLO-based object detection, VLMs, local LLM inference, and STT/TTS pipelines, alongside tutorials and deployment tooling.

The reComputer RK3576 starts at $99 (€91) with 4GB of RAM, while the RK3588 model begins at $199 (€183) with 8GB. Both are available as pre-orders through Seeed Studio's storefront, with shipping scheduled to begin on 2026-05-30.
