Proxmox has released version 1.0 of its Proxmox Datacenter Manager, a new tool designed to give administrators unified control over sprawling Proxmox VE and Proxmox Backup Server deployments. The software tackles the growing complexity of managing distributed data centers by aggregating metrics, health status, and resource usage across multiple clusters into a single dashboard. One standout feature is cross-cluster live migration, allowing VMs to move between independent clusters without downtime.
The new platform includes role-based access control for creating filtered views that give teams visibility without direct access to underlying infrastructure. A query-style search function inspired by Elasticsearch and GitHub lets admins quickly locate resources among thousands of virtual guests by type, status, or custom tags. Proxmox Datacenter Manager also centralizes update management across all connected nodes and provides SDN capabilities for configuring EVPN zones and VNets from one interface.
Under the hood, the software runs on Debian 13.2 "Trixie" with Linux kernel 6.17 and ZFS 2.3. The core is written in Rust, with the UI built on the Rust/Yew framework. As open source software licensed under GNU AGPLv3, the ISO image is available for download immediately. Enterprise users can access support and the stable repository through subscription plans, which are bundled for customers already running Proxmox subscriptions on their infrastructure.
