Valve has shipped Proton 11.0 Beta 2, a focused update that squashes several annoying bugs introduced in the first beta two weeks ago. The headline fix targets Xalia, resolving lock-ups that were plaguing users of the EA App, while a regression that tanked frame rates during the intro cinematic of They Are Billions has also been corrected.
The release additionally pulls in a newer snapshot of VKD3D-Proton, the Direct3D 12 over Vulkan translation layer, bringing rendering fixes for Marvel's Avengers. It is a comparatively light update following the much larger Proton 11.0 Beta 1, which rebased the entire stack against Wine 11.0 and enabled a significant number of previously unplayable Windows titles to run on Linux through Steam Play.
Proton 11.0 Beta 2 is available now through Steam's compatibility tool settings for anyone willing to test pre-release builds.
