Open hardware maker Olimex has launched the ESP32-P4-PC, a compact development board built around the ESP32-P4 processor featuring a dual-core 400 MHz RISC-V processor and a low-power 40 MHz RISC-V microcontroller core. With 768 KB of internal memory, 32 MB of PSRAM, and 16 MB of SPI flash storage, the board is purpose-built for low-power IoT development rather than general computing.

Despite its modest specs, the ESP32-P4-PC packs in a surprisingly dense set of I/O options. The 90 x 60 mm (3.54 x 2.36 inch) board includes four USB 2.0 Type-A ports, an HDMI output, a 3.5 mm audio jack, and an RJ45 port supporting 10/100 Ethernet with optional Power Over Ethernet expansion. A USB Type-C port handles 5V power input, and a built-in LiPo battery charger and step-up converter enable battery-powered operation. A microSD card reader, MIPI-CSI camera interface, MIPI-DSI display interface, UEXT expansion connector, and 20-pin GPIO header round out the connectivity options.

True to Olimex's open hardware ethos, the full schematics, KiCAD source files, and documentation are available in a GitHub repository, making it straightforward to inspect, modify, or manufacture the design independently. The board is available now from the Olimex store for $29 (€25).
