Pimoroni Launches Presto, A Wireless 4-Inch Touch Display Powered By Raspberry Pi RP2350 Microcontroller

Pimoroni has introduced the Presto, a 4-inch wireless desktop touch display that utilizes the Raspberry Pi RP2350 microcontroller. This innovative device combines a vibrant IPS LCD with advanced connectivity features, making it a valuable tool for developers and hobbyists alike.

The Presto features a capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 480 x 480 pixels. It is powered by the Raspberry Pi RP2350B MCU, which includes a dual-core Arm Cortex-M33 and a dual-core Hazard3 RISC-V processor, both operating at 150MHz. The device is equipped with 16MB of QSPI flash storage and 8MB of PSRAM, ensuring ample memory for various applications.

Connectivity is a highlight of the Presto, thanks to the integrated Raspberry Pi RM2 wireless module that supports WiFi 4 and Bluetooth. Additional features include a microSD card slot, a USB-C port for power and programming, and a Qwiic/STEMMA QT connector for further expansion. Ambient lighting is provided by seven RGB LEDs, enhancing the display’s aesthetic appeal.

The Presto ships with MicroPython firmware pre-installed, along with a range of example applications such as an analog clock and a photo frame. Developers can access the firmware source code and examples on GitHub. For those preferring C/C++ programming, a dedicated C++ Boilerplate is also available.

The device is designed with a sleek black anodized aluminum stand, ensuring stability and a modern look. It is powered via a USB-C port but also includes a 2-pin JST connector for optional battery use.
