Linux 6.15 Enhances Compatibility by Adding Support for New Gaming Controllers and Touchpad Adjustments

The upcoming Linux 6.15-rc6 release has integrated support for several new gaming controllers, following a recent merge in the Linux Git repository. This enhancement is primarily achieved by adding new vendor and product device IDs to the existing XPad driver, allowing seamless compatibility with these devices.

The newly supported controllers include:

  • HORI Drum Controller
  • PowerA Fusion Pro 4
  • 8BitDo Ultimate 3-Mode Controller
  • Hyperkin DuchesS Xbox One Controller
  • PowerA MOGA XP-Ultra Controller

The XPad patch, which introduces these controllers, is also designated for stable kernel versions. This means the new support will be back-ported to existing stable kernel series shortly.

In addition to the controller updates, the recent input changes for Linux 6.15-rc6 include adjustments to switch the Synaptics touchpad on multiple laptop models from PS/2 to SMBus mode. Affected models include the Dynabook Portege X30L-G, Dynabook Portege X30-D, TUXEDO InfinityBook Pro 14 v5, Dell Precision M3800, and HP Elitebook 850 G1. The updates also address functionality improvements in the XPad driver, specifically regarding the “Share” button on certain controllers.
