MSI has quietly listed a second monitor built around Samsung Display's 4th Gen Penta Tandem QD-OLED panel, and this one targets 4K gamers who balked at the price of the company's flagship 27-inch 1440p model. The MAG 272UP QD-OLED E16 pairs a 27-inch 3840x2160 panel with a 165Hz refresh rate and a 0.03ms response time, landing at $599.99 (€552) in the US.
The Penta Tandem design stacks five emissive layers to push peak brightness up to 1,000 nits while drawing less power than the 3rd Gen QD-OLED panels that defined last year's lineup. SDR brightness sits at a typical 250 nits, coverage hits 99% of DCI-P3, and the panel carries DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification. Motion handling is rated at VESA ClearMR 9000, a step below the MAG 271QPX32 and its ClearMR 15000 rating, with G-Sync variable refresh on board.
The most notable omission is MSI's Dark Armor film, the scratch-resistant coating that ships on the pricier 271QPX32 and is credited with deeper perceived blacks. Buyers willing to skip that layer get the same underlying Samsung panel technology for less money.
Connectivity covers two full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports, DisplayPort 1.4, and a USB-C input limited to 15W of power delivery, enough for accessories but not for charging a laptop. The monitor is listed at $599.99 (€552), though stock has not yet appeared at retail.
