MSI has revealed the Claw 8 EX AI+ ahead of Computex 2026, becoming the third handheld in two days to ship with Intel's new Arc G3 Extreme silicon. The announcement follows similar reveals from Acer's Predator Atlas 8 and OneXPlayer's 3 and X2 Mini Pro, signaling a coordinated push by Intel and its partners to break AMD's grip on the Windows handheld market.
The spec sheet, confirmed by The Verge, pairs the Arc G3 Extreme CPU with an integrated Intel Arc B390 GPU, 32GB of LPDDR5X memory, and a 1TB M.2 2280 NVMe SSD. The 20.3 cm (8-inch) IPS panel runs at 1920x1200 with a 120Hz refresh rate, VRR support, and a 283 PPI pixel density. Cooling is handled by MSI's Cooler Boost HyperFlow system, while connectivity covers Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a microSD slot, and a 3.5mm jack.
The Panther Lake silicon inside has already drawn attention from the Linux community before these handhelds ship. Phoronix benchmarked Arc B390 Xe3 graphics on existing Panther Lake hardware and found the open-source Mesa driver stack performing well under Linux 6.19 and Mesa 26.0, and GamingOnLinux is tracking the Arc G-Series devices with cautious optimism given the strong upstream kernel support. Whether that SoC-level readiness translates to a functional Linux experience on the Claw 8 EX AI+ itself will depend on bootloader policy, peripheral driver coverage, and community effort once hardware reaches users.
On the controls side, MSI is sticking with Hall Effect sticks and triggers, a stacked shoulder button layout, and a bottom-left D-pad. Front-facing stereo speakers and what MSI calls a "6-axis High-end Linear Motor" for haptics round out the package, with the whole device running Windows. The chassis appears to lean toward a more rounded, grip-forward ergonomic profile compared to the harder edges of the recent Claw A8, with redesigned rear grips clearly inspired by the ROG Xbox Ally school of handheld design.
MSI has not yet disclosed battery capacity, regional configurations, pricing, or a firm release window. The Claw 8 EX AI+ is expected to receive a full unveiling at Computex 2026 in Taipei, alongside the rest of the Arc G3 Extreme handheld lineup.
