Dual 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports on a sub-$400 barebones mini PC make the Minisforum NAB9S an interesting option for home servers, self-hosted setups, or anyone who needs serious wired networking in a box that measures just 127 x 127.5 x 54.7 mm (5.0 x 5.0 x 2.2 inches) and weighs roughly 570 g (1.3 lbs). The system is now available globally as a barebones unit or preconfigured with 32 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and a 1 TB SSD.
Inside is an Intel Core i9-13900HK, a 14-core/20-thread Raptor Lake mobile chip with six performance cores and eight efficiency cores. That is a step up from the Core i9-12900HK found in the older NAB9 and NAB9 Plus, with a 400 MHz boost clock increase on the P-cores. Minisforum's own product page currently lists the more powerful Core i9-13900HX, though the source material identifies the actual silicon as the 13900HK. The company says it redesigned the cooling system with dual heat pipes and dual airflow channels to keep the chip in check.
The NAB9S does make some trade-offs. It uses DDR4 SO-DIMMs rather than DDR5, and Minisforum has dropped both the OCuLink port and USB4 found on the NAB9 Plus. That removes the straightforward external GPU path that made the earlier model appealing to some users. What remains is still a healthy port selection: three USB 3.2 Type-C (one with DisplayPort Alt Mode), four USB 3.2 Type-A, two HDMI outputs, and a 3.5 mm combo jack. The chassis also includes a 2.5-inch SATA bay alongside the M.2 slot. The NAB9S is the first new entry in the EliteMini NAB9 line since Minisforum recalled earlier NAB9 units roughly a year ago over faulty capacitor materials.
Barebones pricing starts at $399 (€429), and the 32 GB/1 TB preconfigured model runs $759 (€700). Both configurations are available now through Minisforum's store.
