The KDE project shipped KDE Gear 26.04.3 on 2026-07-02, marking the final maintenance release in the 26.04 cycle before development shifts to the upcoming Gear 26.08 branch. The point release delivers bug fixes and updated translations across the full Gear suite of over 180 applications, libraries, and plugins.
Three fixes stand out. Kdenlive resolves a bug where the timeline playhead drifted out of view during playback, a longstanding irritation for editors working on longer projects. Elisa now correctly switches its output when the system-wide audio device changes (bug #512126). And KDE Connect fixes file transfers that broke whenever notification sending was enabled (bug #516765).
The release lands during a busy stretch for the broader KDE ecosystem. KDE Plasma 6.7 arrived in mid-June with independent per-screen virtual desktops, simultaneous HDR and ICC profile support, and a revival of the classic Oxygen theme from the KDE 4 era. Plasma is already on its own 6.7.2 bugfix, so distributions packaging the latest Gear update will likely be pulling in a refreshed desktop shell alongside it.
