Fedora Pocketblue Remix is a new mobile Linux distribution that runs Fedora on smartphones and tablets with an atomic architecture. Unlike traditional mobile Linux distributions, Pocketblue uses an atomic update model where package updates are either fully installed or not installed at all. If something breaks during installation, the operating system defaults to the previous working version, making it significantly more resistant to system breakage.

The distribution currently supports a limited set of devices including the Xiaomi Pad 5 and Pad 6 tablets, the Orange Pi 3 LTS single-board computer, and three smartphones (Xiaomi Pocophone F1, OnePlus 6, and OnePlus 6T). All three Snapdragon 845 based phones benefit from ongoing mainline kernel work through the postmarketOS and Mobian communities, with the near-mainline SDM845 kernel tree providing hardware accelerated graphics, CPU frequency scaling, and working WiFi and Bluetooth. The Xiaomi tablets and Orange Pi 3 LTS also run on mainline kernel support, with Armbian providing kernel 6.12.68 builds for the Orange Pi as of February 2026. Support for additional devices could expand as developers contribute to the project on GitHub.

Fedora Pocketblue Remix uses familiar mobile shells like Phosh or KDE Plasma Mobile for its user interface, but takes a container-based approach to software installation. The distribution comes with Flathub pre-installed and developers recommend using Flatpak for most application installations. All packages installed through the traditional package manager run in containers, which maintains the atomic distribution model. The project also includes instructions for using fex-emu to run x86 applications on Arm-based devices.
