Mini PC manufacturer Beelink is taking an unusual approach with its upcoming ME Pro NAS, designing the storage system with a modular mainboard that slides out from a drawer on the bottom of the unit. This means users could theoretically swap between Intel, AMD, or Arm processors without buying an entirely new device, though it remains unclear whether Beelink will actually offer boards with all three architectures at launch.
The company is expected to initially ship the ME Pro with Intel N95 Alder Lake-N or Intel N150 Twin Lake processors. The mainboards feature a processor on top with slots for RAM and M.2 SSDs on the bottom, and the entire assembly including the case fan and wireless card can be removed and replaced as a single unit. Beelink claims the design makes the ME Pro smaller than most comparable systems.
The NAS will come in two configurations: a 2-bay model measuring 16.6 x 12.1 x 11.2 cm (6.4 x 4.8 x 4.4 inches) and a 4-bay version at 16.6 x 16.6 x 14.6 cm (6.5 x 6.5 x 5.7 inches), both supporting 3.5 inch hard drives. Connectivity includes 5 GbE and 2.5 GbE LAN ports, HDMI output, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C and Type-A ports, two USB 2.0 ports, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Pricing and availability have not yet been announced.
