AOOSTAR has launched the MACO470, a compact mini PC featuring AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 processor, an OCuLink port for external GPU connectivity, and a fingerprint reader built into its aluminum chassis. The system is now available for purchase in China for 5,299 CNY ($770 (€708)) and is expected to launch in other markets soon.
The Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 brings serious computing power to the compact form factor, packing 12 cores and 24 threads with Zen 5 architecture, Radeon 890M integrated graphics with 16 RDNA 3.5 GPU cores, and an NPU delivering up to 55 TOPS of AI performance. AOOSTAR pairs the chip with up to 32GB of LPDDR5x-8533 memory and three M.2 slots supporting PCIe 4.0 x4 SSDs for storage expansion.
The MACO470's port selection includes OCuLink for 64 Gbps external GPU connections, dual USB4 ports, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, one USB 2.0 Type-A port, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1, 2.5 GbE LAN, and a 3.5mm audio jack. While AOOSTAR is positioning the system as a platform for running OpenClaw personal assistant software (joining several other Chinese mini PC makers in targeting that market), the hardware should handle a wide variety of computing workloads.
The main limitation is the soldered LPDDR5x memory, which eliminates the option to purchase a barebones model and install your own RAM. Buyers will need to choose their memory configuration upfront since upgrades will not be possible after purchase.
