Waveshare has released the Pi5 Connector Adapter (C), an upgraded multifunctional board that connects to the Raspberry Pi 5 via its 16-pin PCIe interface. The new adapter adds M.2 NVMe SSD support with direct OS boot capability, converts both micro HDMI ports to full-size HDMI connectors, and consolidates all connections on one side of the board alongside the Pi's existing USB and Ethernet ports.

The adapter supports M.2 2230 and 2242 NVMe SSDs with PCIe Gen2 and Gen3 speeds, making it possible to boot directly from SSD storage rather than microSD cards. The board measures 8.5 cm (3.3 inches) by 3.4 cm (1.3 inches) and offers flexible power delivery through either a USB-C port or a screw-terminal connector. It includes two 3-pin UART connectors for serial debugging and system expansion, plus status LEDs for power and activity monitoring.

The package includes two 100 mm 16-pin FFC cables for PCIe connection, a 3-pin cable, a 3-pin power cable, and a mounting screw for securing M.2 drives. While the adapter physically supports Raspberry Pi 4B connections, the SSD functionality only works with the Raspberry Pi 5 due to PCIe interface requirements.

The Waveshare Pi5 Connector Adapter (C) is available now starting at $10 (€9).
