MINISFORUM Set to Launch N5 Pro NAS Featuring AMD Ryzen AI Processor and Extensive Connectivity Options

MINISFORUM has announced that its new network-attached storage (NAS) device, the N5 Pro, is expected to launch in June 2023. This innovative product supports up to five 3.5-inch hard drives and can accommodate three M.2 SSDs or a combination of one M.2 SSD and two U.2 drives, offering a maximum theoretical storage capacity of 144 TB.

The N5 Pro is powered by the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 370 processor, featuring 12 cores and 24 threads, along with a neural processing unit (NPU) capable of 50 TOPS. It supports up to 96 GB of DDR5-5600 ECC memory, providing robust performance for demanding applications. Users can also install various operating systems, including Windows, Unraid, TrueNAS, Proxmox, and other Linux or FreeBSD-based systems.

One of the standout features of the N5 Pro is its modular design, which allows for easy access to the motherboard and slots for M.2 and SODIMM memory. The device includes a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for additional graphics or networking cards, as well as an OCuLink connector for external PCIe devices.

Connectivity options are extensive, featuring:

  • 1 x 10 Gigabit LAN
  • 1 x 5 Gigabit LAN
  • 1 x OCuLink (64 Gbps external PCIe connector)
  • 2 x USB4 (40 Gbps with DisplayPort Alt Mode)
  • 3 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A (10 Gbps)
  • 1 x USB 2.0 Type-A (480 Mbps)
  • 1 x HDMI 2.1
  • 1 x 3.5mm audio jack
  • 1 x DC power input (19V/12.63A)

Additionally, MINISFORUM has developed a Linux-based operating system called MiniSCloud OS, designed specifically for NAS functionality, which includes features like ZFS Snapshots, LZA Compression, and AI Photo Albums.

While this marks MINISFORUM’s first venture into the NAS market, the company has a history of producing mini PCs. The N5 Pro will come with a two-year warranty, and pricing details will be announced as the launch date approaches.
