Mainline Linux kernel support for SpacemiT's RISC-V platform has been building steadily over the past year, and the MUSE Pi Pro gives that progress a compelling piece of hardware to run on. The credit-card-sized board squeezes in both an M.2 Key-M slot and a full-size mini-PCIe slot, an unusual amount of expansion for something measuring just 8.5 x 5.6 cm (3.3 x 2.2 in). The M.2 slot provides a PCIe 2.0 x2 interface for 2230-size NVMe drives and supports PCIe-to-SATA adapters, while the mini-PCIe slot adds PCIe 2.0 x1 and USB 2.0 for cellular modems, additional wireless cards, or networking modules.
At the heart of the board sits SpacemiT's M1 processor, pairing eight 64-bit RISC-V cores with a 2.0 TOPS NPU for lightweight AI inference. Memory tops out at 16 GB of LPDDR4X running at 2400 MT/s, with up to 128 GB of onboard eMMC 5.1 storage and a UHS-II microSD slot for additional capacity. The rest of the I/O is packed: Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, four USB 3.0 Type-A ports, a USB-C port with Power Delivery input, HDMI 1.4 output at 1080p60, a two-lane MIPI-DSI connector with touchscreen support, two MIPI-CSI camera interfaces, a 40-pin GPIO header, and a 3.5mm audio jack backed by an ES8326 codec.
Initial device-tree and SoC support for SpacemiT's X60 cores landed in Linux 6.14, and the current Linux 7.2 development cycle (now at rc3) brings a wider sweep of K1 improvements: thermal sensors, working microSD support, a SPI controller driver, and eMMC, USB, and PCIe board-level fixes. Beyond mainline, the board ships with support for Armbian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Deepin, openKylin, and SpacemiT's own Bianbu Desktop distribution. Armbian 26.2, released in March 2026, added the MusePi Pro as an officially supported board with images based on Linux 6.18 LTS alongside legacy 6.6 builds, covering Ubuntu 24.04 and Debian 13 user spaces with an Xfce desktop option for RISC-V systems. It boots via UEFI from eMMC, NVMe, USB, or microSD, and firmware can be flashed over the USB-C port using SpacemiT's Titan Flasher utility or fastboot.
The MUSE Pi Pro is available now starting at around $120 (€110) for the 8 GB/64 GB configuration. SpacemiT maintains documentation covering GPIO pinouts, UEFI configuration, and firmware-flashing procedures.
