FriendlyELEC's NanoPi M6V2 ships with one of the broadest OS rosters in the RK3588S single-board computer segment: Ubuntu 24.04 with Wayland, Debian 13 "Trixie," Proxmox VE 8.2.7, OpenMediaVault 7, Android 14, and FriendlyWrt 25.12 with Docker baked in, plus Alpine Linux 3.23 and Buildroot for minimal and embedded targets. The board measures 90 x 62 mm (3.5 x 2.4 inches) and pairs the octa-core Rockchip RK3588S with 8 GB of LPDDR5 at 2400 MHz, a Mali-G610 MP4 GPU, and a 6 TOPS NPU that handles INT4 through FP16 inference workloads.

Storage and expansion lean practical. An M.2 Key-M 2280 slot wired over PCIe 2.1 x1 takes standard NVMe drives, while a second M.2 Key-E 2230 slot provides PCIe and USB 2.0 lanes for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules. The board also accepts removable eMMC 5.1 modules and microSD cards. Display output runs through HDMI 2.1 at up to 8K/60 Hz, and two four-lane MIPI-DSI connectors cover panel builds. Dual four-lane MIPI-CSI camera inputs, Gigabit Ethernet via a Realtek RTL8211F, one USB 3.0 port, and two USB 2.0 ports round out the I/O.

Mainline kernel support for the RK3588 family continues to improve. Collabora's upstream work brought H.264 and H.265 hardware video decoder support into Linux 7.0 earlier this year, with multi-core decoding and VP9 still in progress. FriendlyELEC currently ships a vendor Linux 6.1 LTS kernel and publishes full schematics, build scripts, and kernel sources on its wiki, making the board relatively straightforward to customize or rebuild from source. Armbian carries Platinum-tier support for the board as well, providing community-maintained Debian 13 and Ubuntu images for users who want an alternative to the vendor stack.

The NanoPi M6V2 is available now at $172 (€158) for the bare board, with an optional metal case for $15 (€14). Power comes over USB-C with PD support accepting 6 V to 20 V input, and FriendlyELEC recommends a 65 W adapter under load.
